Adriana Hegedűs
I am a research scientist at the Institute of Biological Research Cluj-Napoca, with over 15 years of experience in algology. My work began with Botryococcus research, where I explored its biotechnological potential and phylogenetic diversity, achieving national premieres, including identifying B. terribilis in Romania. I later expanded to algal biofactories for oils, biohydrogen, and biocidal compounds, leading to several patents. Recently, my focus shifted to biodiversity, climate change, and eutrophication, isolating 300+ Desmodesmus algal strains. As curator of the AICB Collection since 2010, I expanded it to ~1200 strains for biotechnology and ecology purposes
